Estoyart will produce and distribute the results of creative collaborations from art workshops with notable Latino, Chicano and Indigenous artists who are U.S. citizens with Latin American migrants navigating a perilous time in immigration policy. We will document and preserve their stories through art. These stories, memorialized with recorded interviews, then presented through the visual arts, will document a seminal moment in our history and become a branded collection of art exhibited in different venues and multiple platforms.

Founding  Team

As a commercial, documentary and music video filmmaker over the past 50 plus years, I’ve been on a creative journey that has included work for Fortune 500 companies, regional and national advertising agencies, innovative nonprofits, political candidates, and even some Rock and Roll legends. But what inspired Estoyart? The primary reason is my personal experience over five decades ago as an aspiring young filmmaker. I was privileged to attend high school at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and fortunate to take a one-semester course in filmmaking. Inspired by the encouragement of my Jesuit mentors, I won an award as a high school student in a primarily collegiate national film festival. I received a grant through PBS and was on my way. What would my personal and professional life have become without that semester of film studies at Jesuit Prep? Just one class ignited what would become my professional life. More recently, I spent a fair amount of time in conversation with my friend and celebrated Chicano musician Alejandro Escovedo, who was releasing his 17th album The Crossing, a concept album about two immigrants and their experiences discovering America. As two creatives from Texas our conversations ranged far and wide on the theme of migration. Alejandro’s immigrant history is rich and inspiring and watching him perform these songs on stages across the U.S. played an important part in my motivation to develop Estoyart. I have also drawn from my experience as a coordinator for JustFaith Ministries, a national Catholic social justice organization, and specifically an immersion experience that involved volunteering at a shelter in Austin, TX where Spanish speaking asylum seekers found refuge.  These beautiful individuals and the stories they told have stayed with me to this day.  When Estoyart enables migrants to tell their stories, I believe we will not only discover bold new artists, but will also document powerful moving stories about survival, hopes, fears and dreams that must be heard and seen. Patrick Tourville Founder, Executive & Creative Director
